Schoolbus Window Paper Heart, the debut disc from Phil Ayoub is the result of a collaboration between singer/songwriter Ayoub, and Tim Bradshaw, keybordist with John Mayer and long-time keyboard and guitar player with David Gray. Americana pop-rock at its best, the disc consists of 12 brand new songs written or co-written by Ayoub. The record also features the drumming of Ed Toth, formerly of Vertical Horizon and currently with the Doobie Brothers.

With multiple songs receiving airplay on over 60 radio stations (and growing…), hear Phil Ayoub’s brand of “grad-school rock” on the startling new disc Schoolbus Window Paper Heart and hear it live…

“Phil Ayoub has an MBA degree. He also has some kind of ear for commercial pop-rock melodies and intelligent lyrics. Ayoub’s first solo release, ‘Schoolbus Window Paper Heart,’ is filled with radio-friendly grooves and themes that range from the 9-11 nightmare to carefree romance….accessible tunes that have radio-friendly stamped on their backsides.”

R2O on BOS (that means "River to Ocean" on 92.9 WBOS)

Well, I’m thrilled to say that "River to Ocean" was played Sunday on 92.9 WBOS, which for those of you who don't know, is a GREAT station here in Boston for, well, my kind of music. That tune was written around this time of year and makes me think of spring and summer, so it’s an excellent choice!

It was included as part of the station’s “Boston Music Sundays,” which features local unsigned artists throughout the day each and every Sunday, I think between 7am and 7pm.

So if you’re around on Sundays and you’re listening to ‘BOS, and you’re so inclined…make a little reminder to yourself and please request “River to Ocean.”

Here are some contact details:

Its 92.9 on your dial (but #1 in your hearts…), or LIVE AND STREAMING at http://www.wbos.com/

WBOS Studio request line: 617-931-1111
WBOS Feedback Line: 617-822-6721

(I do ask that you only do it if you’re actually listening to the station…remember, I have based my whole music career on the honor system, right? Haven’t I??? I forget…)

It’s wonderful to see WBOS weaving some local music in during DAYTIME PROGRAMMING HOURS! They deserve a lot of credit and a lot of thanks for stepping up and helping the local music community, which is filled with a lot of talented artists who are working harder than most people realize.

Please support them in this effort by listening in and making a request now and then (ok, it’s really more a support of ME, I know…). I guarantee if you listen you’ll hear music from other Boston area artists that you’ll swear is better than most of what you hear on mainstream radio…

Thanks you guys!

"He has a fan club and an MBA, which might not make all that much sense. But if you listen to Phil Ayoub, you can hear the two opposing qualities in his music: It’s keen and endearing, witty as well as likable. Ayoub writes empathically, with sensitivity and intelligence….he must be doing something right."

"Phil Ayoub’s debut solo record, Schoolbus Window Paper Heart, shows off a mature modern-rock songwriting style, with strong performances and big-time production. His influences are classic, and he lives up to them…a radio-ready sound for radio-ready songs."
